Antonín Svoboda was born in 1938 in Brno. His family owned a mill in Říčky near Mokrá. As neighbours of the Kaprála family, they witnessed the devastation of their villa at the end of the war. Mr Svoboda’s father supplied the partisans during the war and often had to hide from the Gestapo. After the communist takeover, the family’s property was confiscated, they were not allowed to work in the family mill and were otherwise persecuted. Antonín Svoboda (and his wife) tells the story of the Kaprál family, other neighbours and the transformation of the valley at Říčky, where he lived all his life.
